[accordion title=”ABSTRACT”]The article is about safety in the mountains. The study analyzed the accidents and rescue operations in the Bieszczady Mountains in 2009–2013. The aim of the study was to analyze accidents and rescue actions in selected years in Bieszczady and to present the dynamics of changes in accidents on that area. The study used analysis of documents provided by the Volunteer Mountain Rescue Service. There was also an attempt to formulate the most frequent causes and consequences of accidents and also analysis of the influence of the level of preparation of tourists on the number of unfortunate events. Analysis of the documents has been updated with the results of the diagnostic survey conducted with rescuers providing a service in Bieszczady Mountain Rescue Group, based on a categorized questionnaire, targeted at the purpose of the article.[/accordion]
