[accordion title=”ABSTRACT”]The aim of this paper was to evaluate foot arch and distribution of ground pressure of feet of students of the Podhale State Higher Vocational School in Nowy Targ (PPWSZ). Research was conducted in March 2015. 32 students of the Podhale State Higher Vocational School in Nowy Targ, aged 20-24 years, participated in the research. The average age was 21,43 years. The results obtained in the control group were used to carry out a comparative assessment of somatic characteristics. The following somatic characteristics were examined: height, body weight, height and weight of feet, foot arch, which was assessed by determining Clark’s angle and Wejsflog’s indicator (by means of Podoscan 2D), surface of the sole of the foot and distribution of ground pressure, which was examined by means of a baropodometric platforms (FreeMed). Height and body weight were used to calculate BMI and the results were referred to foot arch and ground pressure on the sole of the foot. In the analysis of the results it has been found that height, body mass and BMI in the research group are at a slightly higher level than in case of population of Małopolska, which exerts significant influence on foot arch since
overweight and obesity correlates negatively with the reduction of the longitudinal
foot arch. However, the level of longitudinal and transverse foot arch
of right and left foot, with account being taken of age and sex of participants,
is still within normal limits laid down in the literature on the subject.
Those results feed into the broadly interpreted safety culture along with its
three pillars: individual, social and material ones.
